Fri Aug 31, 2007Enjoy your Labor Day weekendThank our service men and women for making it possible
Here's a picture of some of them flying US Army attack helicopters near Lake Erie. I snapped the picture from our balcony as they flew to the Cleveland Air Show. Thu Aug 30, 2007The Futurist has a good question for Hillary and ObamaI doubt any MSM type will ask them The Futurist asks: Why do we still have troops in Kosovo after 10 years? Or in Germany and Japan for 62 years and South Korea for 54 years. Granted, they are not involved in active combat, but should we not withdraw troops first from where they have been the longest? Those advocating withdrawal should have very detailed answers to this question. Troops in Germany served to defend Europe from Soviet Aggression. Given recent Russian antics, it may yet be premature to withdraw them. Similarly, troops in Japan and Korea still defend against the threat of Communist aggression. Quite what they are doing in Kosovo is a good question. Shouldn't the Europeans be keeping the lid on that little mess? Be that as it may, the reason why we should keep troops in Iraq for as long as they are needed, is to defend our allies in the region from the threat posed by radical Islam. Wed Aug 29, 2007The surge in Iraq may be workingBut it isn't what is important
The "War on Terror" should be called something like "Resurgent Islam's war on Western Civilization". Iraq is one of the battlefields in that war. So are Thailand, Israel, India, Spain, England, Turkey, Morocco and most countries on the bloody borders of Islam. The enemy is divided into two competing factions. The most prominent, in the public mind, is the Sunni faction, led by Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations. Just as dangerous is the Shi'ite faction, led by the crazed Mullahs that rule Iran. Mon Aug 27, 2007Gonzales is goneIt's a pity that the Democrats get the credit
Watching Schumer on C-Span gloating about Gonzale's resignation was stomach-turning. Gonzales was an honorable man but out of his depth in an executive position at the highest level of government. Carrion eaters like Schumer smelled blood and manufactured reasons to go after Gonzales' scalp. Sat Aug 04, 2007Plus ça change, plus c’est la même choseTake a break from blogging and it seems like nothing much has happened
But some things did. The Democrats are sweating on the surge failing and trying to shift the goalposts, again. The NYT Times Op-ed by Michael E. O’Hanlon and Kenneth M. Pollack of the left-leaning Brookings Institution was a bombshell the Democrats did not expect.
